WHAT IS RED LIGHT THERAPY?
Red light therapy is a natural, alternative therapy with a long list of benefits and no known adverse side effects. The light was originally studied by NASA and has been shown to stimulate fibroblasts which causes an increase in collagen and elastin, restoring the skin to its more supple state. There is NO UV light associated with RED Light Therapy.
What are other benefits?
Aside from its cosmetic and anti-aging benefits, RED light therapy can provide relief from chronic and acute pain including muscle pain, joint pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, tissue and nerve damage, and can decrease injury healing time.
Is red light therapy used in western and eastern medicine?
Western medicine: 10 years later, after Nasa discovered red light benefits, western medicine thoroughly researched Red Light Therapy for FDA approval for anti aging and pain relief, with wound care applications soon to follow.
Eastern medicine: focus on the energy systems of the body, specifically meridian points and chakra zones. For example, “Colorpuncture” uses a narrow beam of red light to stimulate acupuncture points instead of needles.
While western science and eastern medicine may not often agree, the facts remain: light is energy, and our body is energy. Red and infrared light energy penetrate deep into the body, and has profound effects in the hands of both western and eastern healing professionals alike. The good news is at water fusions you have the same rejuvenating, healing and balancing effects at a fraction of the cost.
How does red light therapy work?
Red light therapy is characterized by infrared light, which is a unique type of light that has a stronger wavelength than other types of light. This enables it to penetrate deeper into the skin to a depth of about 8 to 10 mm. Once absorbed, the light energy is converted to cellular energy, stimulating the body’s natural processes on a cellular level and kicking off a whole series of metabolic events including:
● stimulate the production of ATP, an important source of energy in body tissues
● blood circulation, which reduces swelling and inflammation
● collagen production that builds elasticity in the skin
● white blood cells, that work to repair damaged tissues
Do all red light therapy lights provide the same results?
Red LED light has a tighter wavelength span than other types of bulbs. For example, while a fluorescent or incandescent red light might have a 660nm peak, they could include wavelengths of plus or minus 40nm or more. However, in the case of red LED light with the same 660nm peak, the useful wavelengths are only plus or minus about 10nm. For this reason, some consider LEDs a superior vehicle for delivering the necessary light for a given application.
